Painrelief is a neurostimulation service that provides safe, gentle, and targeted stimulation to the brain. Our system is designed to target the specific region of your brain that deals with pain management. There are no drugs, no major side-effects and no interruption to your daily life. You see your Nuraleve Provider thirty minutes a day for two weeks until your program is complete.
This program works to gradually and gently increase activity in a specific location of the brain. Its beneficial effects are believed to be due to a strengthening of the connections between neurons in the stimulated region, a process known as neuroplasticity.
It should not be confused with electroconvulsive or shock therapy (ECT), which sends a much stronger electric current to the entire brain. ECT is done under anaesthesia and applies electrical currents a thousand times greater to cause a seizure.
Generally, people do not experience any side effects. Of all the clinical trials that exist using this technology (over 200), when side effects happened, they were mild, including headaches, skin redness, itchiness, and increased sensitivity, and no serious side effects were seen.
It uses an imperceptible 2 milliamps of electricity, producing benefit with no pain. You may only feel tingling and slight itchiness in the areas undergoing stimulation for the first minute, until it gradually disappears.
Other mild side effects may include:
• Mild tingling sensation
• Drowsiness
• Itching
• Headache
• Scalp burning
• Concentration problems
• Mood changes
A typical session looks like this:
• Once you’ve sat down in the provider’s chair, the operator will measure your head to find the proper stimulation sites.
• Then, two sponge electrodes will be placed on your head, supported by an elastic fabric.
• Once the session starts, you will feel tingling for about a minute or two, while your body accustoms to it.
• After twenty minutes, you are free to go.
Ideally, yes, but we all have busy schedules. The closer you can put the sessions, the better.
We are currently working on OHIP coverage as well as private insurance coverage.
It can, for food, alcohol, and some other drugs, but we recommend following this program for smoking cravings only.
